Flashdance is a piece I'll come back to, but was made possible by a unique lighting source.
The water effect isn't water, but light. Light strobed through a black fibre optic brush using the RYU Lightworks torch sold by Light Painting Paradise.

I had an old statue living in a cupboard. Seemed the perfect subject for that Alex Owens 'Flashdance' movie scene.

Strobed rain is one of those maddening effects which is fiddly. If you don't move the brush just right, bristles spread and have the perfect strobe frequency, the dots of light look nothing like water. Blurry streaks, or odd banding. It's very much trial and error experimentation and then fiddly to recreate. This was pretty close to the effect I wanted and the image kept after a couple of nights of experimentation.

Sadly, I learned today Light Painting Paradise are closing. Based in Spain, they have been superb innovators, always friendly and helpful.
A huge thanks to Ivan Barco of Light Painting Paradise. Light Painting Paradise will be missed. In particular, my sincere thanks for your helping to build the community, sharing techniques and advancing the art. You've made a unique contribution to the light painting world.
